Got a shark from Gramma
It was soft and it was blue
It had some scary teeth
It tried to by me too
I wrestled with my shark
And ripped apart his hide
That mean and scary fishy
Was all cotton balls inside
“Whatever did possess you?
Goodness gracious Daisy Mae!
We can’t show this to Gramma”
I heard my mother say
Then I got in trouble
So I kicked and I cried
Nobody told me that the shark
Was not a shark inside
Daddy bought a puppy
To be my very own
My parents were frightened
To leave us alone
Silly silly grownups
Don’t they realize?
I know that my puppy
Is all puppy inside

Do you think
You’ll be safe
If you stick
Your head up there?
You should find
A better place
Before you run
Out of air
There isn’t
Sanctuary
Where the sun
Doesn’t shine
The world is
No less scary
And you’re gonna
Wreck your spine
It’s gonna
Hurt a lot
But you gotta
Pull it free
Don’t waste
The life you got
Pretending
Not to see

We’re proud to announce
It’s incredible to see
A sensational development
A new and better me
The improvement is amazing
It’s finally here
Compare to other products
It’s remarkably clear
From our team of experts
This miraculous device
A revolutionary bargain
At a startling price
It’s quick and it’s easy
It’s coming to your town
Accept no other offer
We won’t let you down
Introducing our new strategy
It’s guaranteed to work
Time to tell the truth:
I was a stupid selfish jerk
I’m sorry and I love you
I’ll be a better man
It’s a limited-time offer
So get me while you can

You had your chance
And then you blew it
A precious soul
Who loved you true
Lord only knows
What made you do it
There ain’t no hope
For fools like you
You had your chance
And then you blew it
All your contrition
Don’t mean squat
You got a lifetime now
To rue it
Ain’t gonna get
A better shot
You had your chance
And then you blew it
Thought you could find
Some greener grass
She was perfect
And you knew it
No one can help
Your sorry ass

Started to date her
Till she said “see you later”
I wasn’t even a skater
And now I really hate her
I hate her smile
I hate her smell
I hate the stories
She would tell
She found a new guy
Before she even said “bye”
Never ever said why
But I ain’t gonna cry
I hate her style
I hate her grace
I hate her
Stupid little face
Her love was misleading
My heart took a beating
And my insides are bleeding
But you won’t see me pleading
I hate her voice
I hate her hair
I hate her most
When she’s not there

Great Spirit — give to me
A Heaven not so large as Yours,
But large enough — for me
—Emily Dickinson
He cooks me eggs
When I wake up
He never needs
To act tough
He just feeds the family
That’s Man enough
For me
He’s home for supper
Every night
He loves the kids
And treats em right
Isn’t really hard to see
He’s Man enough
For me
He don’t write sonnets
To sing my praise
He warms my night
And fills my days
Always keeps me company
That’s Love enough
For me

Cigarettes and alcohol and rage
Propel your injured soul
From day to day
It works until it doesn’t
And suddenly you’re old
It works until it doesn’t
Till the center cannot hold
Your back-stabs and your lies
Spur you till you slip
On the blood you left behind
It works until it doesn’t
All the stories that you told
It works until it doesn’t
Till the center cannot hold
Calm won’t still the storm
Surrounded by dysfunction
Deception kept you warm
It works until it doesn’t
And you can’t keep out the cold
It works until it doesn’t
Till the center cannot hold

Even though you’re tall
You’re fragile and you’re small
You try and try to hide it
You build a giant wall
Your childhood was sad
You had an ornery dad
The other kids didn’t like you
You became an angry cad
Carrying the germ
You live to make men squirm
A feeble-hearted man
With the compassion of a worm
No achievement can console
Your bruised and twitching soul
Gobble and devour
You will never fill the hole

It’s 3 in morning
You say we gotta go
You really got a problem
Always wanting to control
You say you need some sleep
Cuz you gotta wake and work
You think you’re all grown
But you’re really just a jerk
Why you gotta frustrate
And hold a player back?
Haters gotta hate hate
And always attack
I need a thousand dollars
Cuz I got in a jam
Love to play the ponies
That’s just who I am
You say I need some help
With all your sanctimony
You think you’re so perfect
But you’re just a big phony
Why you gotta frustrate
And hold a buddy back?
Haters gotta hate hate
And always attack
Got a chance to get some Guccis
For seventeen bucks
Looking for investors
You just shit on my luck
When I try to succeed
You always step on my goals
You love to see me bleed
You’re such an asshole
Why you gotta frustrate?
And hold a brother back
Haters gotta hate hate
And always attack

I’m hitting on all cylinders
My calls are going through
I’m in the zone
I’m not alone
I’m glad that I met you
I just hit the jackpot
Time to knock on wood
I’m in the groove
I made my move
And things are looking good
I’m taking on all challengers
My ship is in the bay
I’m on a roll
I reached my goal
Today’s my lucky day
My lucky streak keeps growing
I’m hotter than July
I wrote the book
I’m off the hook
You said that I’m your guy
