Shipwrecked, like a heart
Slowly, I will fall apart
No more boats on my horizon
Demise won't be at all surprising 

Stranded in the endless sand
A castaway in crazy land
The nothing that is always near
Freezes all my empty tears

Memories will haunt my days
Rippling ghosts are just like waves
The premature and lost goodbyes
My senseless silly alibis

The painful past that won't let go 
Oh, Prospero! Oh, Dan Dafoe!
My future sings a song of dread
My island lives inside my head

Sunspots, sarsaparilla
Laughter, sunset villas
Unicorns and green gorillas

Cynical people think sincerity's a pose
A cactus is a cactus 
A rose is a rose

Puffy cloudy billows
Playful peccadillos
Perfume on a pillow 

Cynical people think that love is a lie
Blaming the bucket
When the well runs dry

Critters chillin' Cali
Green and yellow valleys
Creepers cruisin' alleys

Cynical people shut their eyes real tight
The whole world sparkles
But they can't see the light
