crooked crooked world

You shall love your crooked neighbour
      With your crooked heart

W.H Auden, As I Walked Out One Evening

Anger and resentment
Will fill your heart with sand
Allow yourself to care about
Somebody you can’t stand

There’s a part of you that tries to love
Everyone you see
Pretending that it doesn’t
Makes you angry sad and mean

It’s a crooked crooked world
Filled with crooked souls
Love can make it meaningful
But nothing makes us whole

From Paris to the Nile

Pick your diamond pick your pearl there is beauty in the world
Macy Gray, et al.

You’ll never see a sunset
Hanging on the wall
You can’t buy any moonlight
At your local mall

You can find a billion
Emeralds and pearls
In the overwhelming joy
Of a bunch of boys and girls

I could dig up every gemstone
From Paris to the Nile
I’ll never know a treasure
Greater than your smile

Smokescreen

The Russians broke in
When I was outta town
Drank all my whiskey
And burned the place down

The Russians ate my homework
And Putin hacked my phone
My girlfriend saw his dick pic
And now I’m all alone

My manager’s a Russian
He’s an undercover Tsar
Always hacking at my server
And eating caviar

Down in every basement
Under every bed
There’s a sneaky Russian agent
They know everything you said

Call the Justice League
And summon Chuck Norris
Cuz we’re under assault
From Natasha and Boris
