Resentment is a hell of a drug

April 28, 2022

Eating breathing lies
Every day until you die

Resentment is a hell of a drug
Sweeping anger under the rug

Born with missing parts
Eight spleens and half a heart

Resentment is a hell of a drug
Pack your hatred into a shrug

Truth comes down in shards
You're bleeding pretty hard

Resentment is a hell of a drug
Metamorphize into a bug

resentment anger masochism

August 26, 2017

tie yourself up in a knot
think about what people do
and crave what people got

ignite your blood like gasoline
turn the damage inside out
explode like a machine

pull your heart out through your gut
slash and maim and trash and burn
and smash and maul and cut

let it out slow

September 17, 2016

zzzzforgive

Resentment rots your innards
And desiccates your soul
Rooting for destruction
Takes a mighty toll

Take a deep breath
And let it out slow
Think about your anger
And try and let go

Hatred is a monster
That you don’t have to feed
It cuts in both directions
And makes the hater bleed

Take a deep breath
And let it out slow
Think about your anger
And try and let go

Are you feeling jealous?
Is your life incomplete?
Are you searching for a scapegoat
In everyone you meet?

Take a deep breath
And let it out slow
Think about your anger
And try and let go

Resentment is a poison
Like the twelve-steppers say
Resist its lethal logic
And pour it down the drain

Take a deep breath
And let it out slow
Think about your anger
And try and let go

The Bank of Resentment

May 2, 2015

download

I walked barefoot to Alaska
Hoping I could please you
And with every single step
My resentment grew and grew

Gave up everything in life
Just to make you happy
So it’s totally your fault
That I feel so crappy

I’m a walking sacrifice
I carry my own cross
There’s masochistic gain
In every single loss

Existing just for others
Is how I seek contentment
I keep a full account
At the bank of resentment

Circle of Hate

June 1, 2014

line people

Strangers sharing all their troubles
Actors living inside bubbles
Lucky, privileged, pampered babies
Make me foam like I got rabies

I got a list inside my head
Of all the people I want dead
I focus focus all my spite
On other people day and night

And I could torture all the swine
Who don’t decide when they’re in line
Chatting up the checkout gal
Like she’s their oldest living pal

I got a list inside my head
Of all the people I want dead
I push my anger far and wide
Cuz I don’t wanna look inside

I ruminate with all my might
On every slander, every slight
The lineup is a mile long
Of all the folks who done me wrong

I got a list inside my head
Of all the people I want dead
I try and try and try and try
To swallow hate until they die

Bitter

June 17, 2012

aaaaabitter

Alex lives for beauty
And the memory of a smile
From a love that never was
That continues to beguile

He’s a little ball of bitter
Muffling primal screams
Concocting better days
And waiting on a dream

Walter’s in his workshop
He got himself a plan
Turning lead to gold
He’s gonna be a wealthy man

He’s a little ball of bitter
Afraid to laugh or grin
Holding back on living
Until his ship comes in

Don’t bother with Maria
If you ain’t a wealthy guy
No money means no honey
She got bigger fish to fry

She’s a little ball of bitter
But she ain’t about to quit
Cuz a feller with a fortune
Will be a perfect fit

No Happy Hour for Henry
He don’t waste his life in bars
He’s got an audition
And the ladies love a star

He’s a little ball of bitter
He ain’t livin’ for today
Got no time for losers
He’ll show them all one day

I Hate

July 27, 2010

I Hate

I hate you cuz the sky is blue
Why can’t you make it green?
Everything you say and do
Is just to make me mean

I hate it when you wear those pants
It makes me feel so fat
Always thinking of yourself
I’ve had enough of that

I hate the way you buy new things
When I am out of money
Don’t you know what pain you bring?
I’ll bet you think it’s funny

I hate to see your smiling face
When you are feeling glad
It’s obvious that you don’t care
For people who are sad

I hate you when you laugh out loud
At folks who are not funny
We know that you are insincere
You just want their money

I hate it when you call your friends
You’re always on the phone
If I had phony friends like you
I’d rather be alone

I hate you morning, noon, and night
You think that you’re so cool
History will prove me right
You’re just a silly fool
