But You Don’t Wanna Know Me | The Nymph’s Reply, Part 4

August 28, 2024

You look at my face
But you don't see my mind
All you really want
Is a pretty behind

You wanna hold me
But you don't wanna know me

You're looking for
A dream-come-true
Who's gonna live
Her life for you

You wanna hold me
But you don't wanna know me

All you're gonna do
Is waste my time
Go back to your world
And stay out of mine

You wanna hold me
But you don't wanna know me

You wanna hold me
But you don't wanna know me

You wanna hold me
But you don't wanna know me

Her, a bed, a book and me

August 23, 2024

Bless God that we catch faint glimpses of his brighter Paradise from occasional Heavens here.
Emily Dickinson

Her, a bed, a book and me
I kissed her goodnight
And then I put her to sleep

Her, a bed, a book and me
On occasional nights
Doggie makes three

Her, a bed, a book and me
An extraordinary poem–
McCarthy's Suttree

Her, a bed, a book and me
A universe of love
And eternity

Her, a bed, a book and me
The greatest pleasures
Are actually free

I don’t need to know

August 10, 2024

I don't need to know
every place you've ever been
everything you did
every thought you ever had
ever since you were a kid

I don't need to know
where you learned to walk that way
how you fix your hair
where you got those pretty shoes
the designers that you wear

I don't need to know
the alchemy and mystery
the parts that make the whole
when dandelions and daisies
intoxicate my soul

Is it magic? Is it moonlight
That makes the evening glow?

As long as we're together
I don't need to know

hanging on to my hatred

August 2, 2024

I hang on to my hatred
Cuz it tastes so good
It's safe and familiar
Like my neighborhood

I hang on to my hatred
Cuz it knows my name
Wagging that tail
It's totally tame

I hang on to my hatred
Cuz it's always the same
It doesn't go changing
And hurting my brain

I hang on to my hatred
To ward off the pain
It's a great place to hide
From the Universal stain

I hang on to my hatred
So the acid in my guts
Can find a new home
Instead of driving me nuts
